Ranks and Titles
: Lord Militant

Skills and Abilities:
Strategic Command – Grand-theatre war planning across multiple sectors. Expert in attritional warfare and defensive doctrine in isolation conditions.

Logistical Mastery – Exceptional understanding of supply chains in warp-cut regions. Known for sustaining campaigns long after projections deemed them untenable.

Siegecraft & Counter-Siege – Specialises in hive warfare and fortress reclamation.

Political Navigation – Experienced in dealing with fractured Imperial command structures within Imperium Nihilus.

Battlefield Presence – Inspires discipline rather than fanaticism. Units under his command rarely rout.

Appearance:
Volt is thickset and compact rather than imposing. His frame has softened slightly with age but remains powerful. His nose is blunt and slightly flattened from a long-healed injury.

His brown eyes are sharp and constantly assessing. He carries himself rigidly, even out of armour.

His hair is dark, now threaded with iron grey at the temples. He wears it regulation short.

His uniform is immaculate — deep navy coat, high collar, medals worn correctly but without ostentation. A faint scent of ozone follows him, the origin of the nickname "Old Spark."

Merits and Flaws (Required: 2 Flaws Minimum) :
Unshakeable Discipline – Almost impossible to panic.
Cold Strategic Mind – Makes necessary sacrifices without hesitation.
Respected Veteran – Survived campaigns across the Macharian fringe.
Adaptive Nihilus Commander – Understands that Terra's guidance may never come.

Emotional Withholding – Rarely expresses warmth; alienates subordinates.

Burden of Command – Carries deep guilt for every lost regiment. Sleeplessness is common.

Distrustful of Ecclesiarchy Zeal – Sees uncontrolled faith as destabilising in Nihilus.

Rho Sensitivity (Unsettling) – At times grows distant when sensing Warp disturbance, appearing distracted or haunted.

Biography:
Write your character's backstory.

Habeus Volt was born on Arcadus V, nearly two millennia after the Cicatrix Maledictum split the Imperium. The galaxy had never been whole in his lifetime. Warp routes were unstable, astropaths unreliable, and aid from Terra a matter of doctrine, not expectation.

He joined the Astra Militarum at seventeen—not to crusade, but to contain. His early campaigns were waged on starving, fractured worlds. Hive cities didn't collapse in flame, but in famine: thinning rations, corpse-starch queues, riots swelling from the underhive. Volt learned that starvation could be as decisive as invasion, and that logistics won more wars than artillery.

He watched regiments cannibalise three Leman Russ hulls to keep a single Baneblade moving. It wasn't efficiency—it was faith. One indomitable engine advancing gave soldiers something immovable to believe in.

He put down civil wars sparked by silence. In the void left by the Emperor's voice, doubt bred schism. Governors entrenched. Defence forces split along lines of fear and faith. Volt learned that belief could be as lethal as plasma and that restoring order demanded precision, not fury.

He rose not through brilliance, but endurance. Where others burnt out, consumed by zeal, despair, or ambition, Volt endured. He planned as if reinforcements would never come. He treated every shell as if it were irreplaceable.

As Colonel of the combined regiments of Arcadus V, his discipline drew the attention of what remained of the Guard's high command. After a brief tenure on junior sector staff, he was promoted through attrition, performance, and necessity, eventually inheriting the mantle of Lord Militant.

His elevation came after stabilising three subsectors cut off by a warp flare. He rebuilt logistics, executed hoarding governors, consolidated depleted regiments, and restored tithe flow. He did not win. He persevered.

Volt does not speak of Terra as salvation but as duty; he does not wait for rescue; he fortifies.
