Dear Users,
I would like to warmly welcome you all to Dark Imperium, which opens its gates today in the form of a Soft Launch. The creators of this board have known each other for years and have worked together on various projects. Our goal has always been to create a darker-toned roleplaying experience set within the Warhammer universe that we all deeply love.
We sincerely hope that everyone will feel at home here, and that together we can build not only a strong community, but also a rich and immersive world.
What does the Soft Launch mean?
The board is now open: you may register, create characters, open threads, and begin writing. As you can see, not everything is fully complete yet, but we are actively working to ensure that everything is finalised as soon as possible.
During the Soft Launch period (approximately 1–1.5 months), we recommend creating Imperial characters only. Once the board is fully completed, all factions and races will become available, with the exception of those listed on the banned list, naturally.
Why do we recommend this?
Based on what we have seen on Discord so far, the majority of players are planning to create Imperial characters. We would not like anyone to feel isolated during the early stages of the board because they cannot find suitable writing partners due to faction differences.
This is not a restriction, merely a recommendation. If you prefer to create a different character, you are absolutely free to do so.
What can you expect in the near future?
- Following the Soft Launch period, all races and factions will officially become available.
- We are currently developing a PvP system that will allow for engaging space battles and ground combat alike.
- Profile flairs will be introduced to add more colour and personality to your profiles.
- The Faction system will become available in March, allowing you to create your own factions.
- Existing Canon factions will also be present here, and you will be able to establish your own sub-groups within them.
- Conflict within major factions will be possible, as this is an organic and essential part of the Warhammer universe, alongside the large-scale conflicts between Canon factions. Further details will follow soon.
- Worldbuilding is highly important to us, and we want you to be able to contribute as well. The Lexicanum will be introduced shortly, where you will be able to create locations, races, units, technologies, and more, helping to expand the setting together.
