  • Nemoris Prime (Primary inhabited world)
  • Two minor gas giants in outer orbit

Planetary Features

Nemoris Prime is dominated by towering mountain ranges that span most of the planet's surface. Vast alpine forests fill the valleys between jagged peaks, while high plateaus support scattered fortified settlements.

Natural stone formations and sheer cliff faces have shaped the architecture of Nemorian civilization, with many cities built directly into mountain slopes.

Climate

The climate of Nemoris Prime is harsh but stable.

High altitudes produce cold alpine conditions, while lower valleys experience temperate but rugged seasons. Violent storms frequently sweep across mountain ranges, making travel difficult and reinforcing the isolation of regional clans.

Winters in the upper peaks are especially lethal, with blizzards capable of burying entire passes.

Terrain

The terrain of Nemoris Prime is overwhelmingly mountainous. The planet's surface is composed largely of exposed stone ridges, deep valleys, and steep forested slopes.

Soil suitable for agriculture exists primarily in narrow valley basins where hardy crops are cultivated by the local population. Much of the planet remains untamed wilderness.

Natural Resources

Nemoris Prime contains moderate deposits of:

  • Iron and ceramite-bearing minerals
  • Industrial metals
  • Timber from dense alpine forests

The world is not heavily industrialized, and most large-scale resource extraction is limited to supporting the Chapter's needs.

Population

Mid-Density

Demographics

The population of Nemoris Prime consists primarily of human highland clans who inhabit fortified mountain settlements.

These clans maintain a warrior culture shaped by the planet's dangerous wildlife and unforgiving terrain. Clan loyalty, personal endurance, and hunting skill are highly valued.

The presence of the Knights of the Silent Hunt has influenced Nemorian culture for generations, and service to the Chapter is regarded as a sacred honor.

Religion

The dominant religion is the Imperial Creed, though it is practiced in a rugged and martial form adapted to Nemorian traditions.

The Emperor is often revered as the Great Protector of Mankind, and the Knights of the Silent Hunt are viewed as His chosen guardians.

Local traditions frequently incorporate clan oaths and ancestral reverence alongside formal Ecclesiarchy teachings.

A remote mountain range used by the Chapter as a testing ground for aspirants undergoing the Trial of the High Peaks.

A large predatory creature capable of scaling near-vertical rock faces. These predators are frequently hunted by aspirants during their initiation trials.

Ironhorn Grazer

Massive herbivores that roam high plateaus. Their armored skulls and horns make them dangerous even to experienced hunters.

Many aspirants selected by the Knights of the Silent Hunt originate from these clans.

Historical Information

Nemoris Prime was originally a feudal mountain world ruled by House Thren long before Imperial forces arrived in the region. The world's harsh environment shaped a culture built around endurance, hunting skill, and clan loyalty.

Following the opening of the Great Rift and the growing instability of Imperium Nihilus, the Imperium established the Knights of the Silent Hunt upon Nemoris Prime to guard the frontier of the Makenna Sector. House Thren surrendered the ancient fortress of Caer Thren to serve as the Chapter's new monastery, and the world became the Chapter's primary recruitment planet.

Since that time Nemoris Prime has remained largely unchanged, its population continuing to live within mountain citadels while the Knights of the Silent Hunt stand watch over the surrounding sector.
