The title is pretty rough, but it fits...
This is an OOC to have a bit of a brainstorm for a thread, possibly 2-3 threads. I'll sketch out the idea below.
In a sector of the Dark Imperium's space, near the heart of things (more interesting than the fringe) an NPC Hereticus Inquisitor dubbed Inquisitor Vahknor has uncovered a possible Chaos Cult with exceedinly deep reach and roots in the very Fabric and Structure of the Dark Imperium itself. Much of this cult's activity is done in a shell-game like fashion, setting up smaller puppet cult cells with limited resources and scope. These smaller cells are ultimately designed to fail, and their true motives often are not able to be understood even when their puppet cells are dismantled and said cell's stated purpose is prevented or found and stopped. Think the Sons of Bael in Eisenhorn trilogy, and how they were utilized.
This first thread would be an emergency meeting called by Insquisitor Vahknor of various psykers he knows to be currently in the Sub-Sector, to discuss the threat and share information. In particular, Vahknor will reveal that he has intelligence of the upper echelon cult that commands the various puppet cells having been infilitrating several organiations and their various scholam or progena programs designed to train and empower psykers, corrupting and helping them vanish into the backdrop of the Dark Imperium after recruiting them to their shadowy mission.
For the purposes of kicking things off, this Cult won't be brought down entirely at current, as I'd like them to remain one step ahead and in the shadows as a recurrent NPC enemy. I figured this would also be a good moment, if non-Astartes psykers are sent, for ideology and strategies to clash and argue, but in a respectful/professional manner. Any subsequent action from this thread would be related to hunting down and exterminating one or more of the corrupted psyker training organizations/programs and freeing or executing any capture psykers.
Any Chaos devoted folk could also easily be welcomed as opposition too, once we move beyond the emergency meeting, or even to portray the Cult's masterminds/leaders and other members. I also intend to let Red Hour have a week or so to run, if not entirely finish, before we launch fully, but that timeline is flexible!
