Appearance:
Golden eyes, a relic of his first turn to the Wolfen before becoming a full brother in the Space Wolves. Black hair slowly going grey in places, worn long but braided and pulled back to keep it from his eyes though there always seems to be a few strands hanging free that he outright ignores. He has a long scar on his left cheek that continues down and across his lips on the left side of his mouth, another across the bridge of his nose, and many lesser ones that are usually only visible under strong light and close inspection of his face. He wears a short beard and mustache, neatly trimmed whenever he has time to attend to such things though the mustache is marred by the above-mentioned scar across his cheek and lip. At 8'6" he gives the impression of being long and lean when out of his armor but blends with his brothers when bearing it's glory in service to the Emperor.
Merits and Flaws (Required: 2 Flaws Minimum) :
Flaw: Fenriphile - Baldur is fascinated, fixated even, on the cultural practices and history of Fenris. He surrounds himself with the trappings of that now dead people and practices their ways whenever possible. Though acceptable socially it can be distracting and somewhat fetishistic as he compulsively collects materials to produce his own 'artifacts' in the traditional ways of his ancestral peoples.
Flaw: Space Wolf Aggression - Predisposed by genetics and conditioned by experience, Baldur's first and strongest instinct is to attack the "problem". While this makes him a fearless warrior and go-getter in general it can also make him anywhere from somewhat distractable to near suicidal when faced with fleeing or powerful foes.
Biography:
Born to descendants of the Kaerls, the Planetary Defense Forces of the world of Fenris, and raised aboard one of the many vessels of the Space Wolf fleet. Destined to be a fighter it was no shock to anyone when the unusually strong, stubborn, and large boy was selected to become a member of the Astartes. Enthusiasm, talent, and stubborn commitment carried him through his indoctrination, training, and augmentation. Dropped on a deadly ice world, the best that could be found in the absence of Fenris, where he completed his trials. From there it was more of the same, for in the Imperium Nihilus there were never a shortage of enemies to be found.
It was during these early years as a Primaris Space Wolf that Baldur began to gain his reputation for slaying the Xeno enemies of the Imperium. Battling the ever expanding 'Nids and Tau allowing him to expand his skill at making a pack successful at generating mass casualties where possible and slicing surgically at high priority targets when necessary. Eventually he became the Huscarl of his own Grey Hunter pack just in time to fight in a great battle that drove the T'au from a world they'd colonized just a year before. His pack successfully escorted a pair of Rune Priests to incapacitate and capture one of the T'au's leadership class, bringing the prize back in one piece whilst slaughtering their way free of its Headquarters. This brought him to the attention of his company commander and others, leading eventually to his being seconded to the Deathwatch.
Trained at Praefex Venatoris, battling mostly against the Drukhari, he proved himself not just tactically sound and more than merely a massed combat brawler by winning several duels against capable foes encountered in the field. He also showed himself to be unusually open to the brotherhood of other Chapters' battle-brothers, making fast friends with a member of the Salamanders and pack-bonding easily with almost anyone he served alongside in combat. In fact, the only reliable way to prevent him from making friends with his fellow Astartes was to force him into roles and mission profiles that required him to be quiet (scouting is something Inquisitors should do before Baldur is assigned to the situation, in his personal opinion). Not that he has a problem with scouts, he just wants them to be done and have their findings ready to present when he comes striding onto the battlefield.
